Le’ Colaz, a new Horizon Europe-funded project coordinated by the Greek R-NanoLab – Research Lab of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology, officially launched in September 2025 with the ambition to transform the future of construction through sustainable, modular, and intelligent building solutions.
Bringing together 12 European partners from academia, research, technology, architecture, and industry, the project aims to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon, adaptable, and resilient buildings that respond to Europe’s growing environmental and societal challenges.
Innovation Through Circular and Smart Design
Inspired by LEGO-like modular principles, Le’ Colaz is developing an innovative construction framework that combines bio-based and recycled materials, advanced snap-fit building components, and AI-powered digital tools. By integrating advanced digital technologies, smart monitoring systems, and AI-driven solutions, the project seeks to improve the way buildings are designed, constructed, adapted, and reused, making them smarter, greener, and more resilient.
Strengthening Collaboration Across Europe
Following the project’s official launch, consortium partners gathered for their first in-person meeting in April 2026 in Brindisi, Italy, hosted by project partner CETMA. The meeting marked an important milestone for the consortium, providing an opportunity to align on the project’s vision, technical objectives, and collaborative roadmap for the months ahead. Beyond technical discussions, the gathering reinforced the partners’ shared commitment to advancing circular and intelligent construction approaches for a more sustainable built environment.
Demonstrating Real-World Impact
Over the next 35 months, Le’ Colaz will validate its solutions through Living Labs in Athens and Trondheim, demonstrating how circular and smart construction systems can improve energy efficiency, adaptability, resource optimisation, and building resilience in real-world environments.
By combining innovation, circular economy principles, and digital intelligence, Le’ Colaz aims to pave the way for a new generation of future-proof buildings and sustainable urban environments across Europe.
